Personal notes on backyard astronomy and astrophotography.

Orionids from a dark field

Two hours after midnight, roughly a dozen meteors per hour. Wide lens, ISO 3200, 20 s exposures stacked into a single frame.

Saturn at opposition

Seeing was steady for once. 2000 frames through a 5" Maksutov, best 15% stacked; the Cassini division is clearly visible.

Polar alignment without a laptop

Notes on drift alignment with just a reticle eyepiece and patience. Good enough for 60 s guided subs.
